The National Association “Città del Vino” was established in 1987. Its main office is in Siena.

It operates for the promotion and the improvement of the environmental, landscape, artistic, historical and tourist resources, for those territories among the 569 member Municipalities, which cooperate for its economic and social development. These are villages and cities, which give a name to a wine and in which a wine with a Controlled Denomination of Origin and/or Guaranteed is produced and which are historically, culturally or traditionally linked to wine.

The Association is committed with the promotion of the tourism of wine and of the typical enogastronomy, of the environmental quality and the structure of the territory. Among its statutory tasks a very important role is played by the safeguard and promotion of the territories, of their typical products and their autochthonous vineyards.
